Lady Gaga to perform at 2016 American Music Awards

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Lady Gaga will perform at the 2016 American Music Awards in November.

The 30-year-old pop star confirmed she'll sing at the ceremony in a tweet Tuesday, the same day her album Joanne was released.

"Bringing #Joanne to the @AMAS on 11/20! See u there! #AMAs," she wrote to her 64.2 million followers.

Lady Gaga isn't nominated for any AMAs this year, but previously won Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist in 2010. Bruno Mars and Sting will also perform at the awards show.

Prior to Joanne, Lady Gaga had last released the collaborative album Cheek to Cheek with Tony Bennett in 2014. The singer said last week on Good Morning America that Joanne was named for her late aunt, who also inspired her middle name.

"She died in 1974 and the tragedy really stayed with our family our whole lives and I wanted to make a record about family and friendship and togetherness and learning from the post and that's why we're here today," she revealed.

"The album isn't just country. It's folk, it's dance, it's pop, it's funk. Some of my vocal jazz influence also flies in there, too. There's some rock and roll influence ... But essentially it is a pop record," the star added.

The 2016 American Music Awards will take place Nov. 20 in Los Angeles. Rapper Drake leads the field with 13 nominations, while his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, is up for seven awards.
