Coldplay announces N. American tour

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- British rockers Coldplay say they will kick off their first North American tour in nearly three years this spring.

The series of U.S. and Canadian dates is to begin April 17 at Rexall Place in Edmonton. The run also will include a two-night stand at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl May 1-2.

The band is touring in support of its blockbuster CD "Mylo Xyloto."

"Coldplay New Year's Eve: An Austin City Limits Special" is to air on PBS stations Dec. 31.
