March 2 (UPI) -- The origin of new villain Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) is unveiled in the latest trailer for Disney's upcoming high seas epic, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The clip, which premiered Thursday on Ellen, features the undead antagonist while he was still human and alive during his mission to eliminate all pirates.

His life is changed however after he meets a young Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), who sends Salazar to his death along with his crew inside the Devil's Triangle.

Now back as a vengeful spirit who commands a zombie-like army, Salazar is looking for Sparrow to extract his revenge.

Other notable moments from the trailer include Sparrow searching for his old ship the Black Pearl, the appearance of an undead shark and Sparrow meeting with series newcomers Carina Smyth portrayed by Kaya Scodelario and Henry played by Brenton Thwaites.

"I once knew a Spaniard named something in Spanish," Sparrow says when talking about Salazar.

Directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales arrives in theaters May 26.
