Kaya Scodelario is reportedly in talks for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The 22-year-old actress would portray the female lead and love interest for Brendan Thwaites. Lucy Boynton (Miss Potter), Alexandra Dowling (The Musketeers), Jenna Thiam and Gabriella Wilde (Endless Love) were also in the running as of December 2014.

Thwaites is slated to play a British soldier alongside returning actors Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush and Orlando Bloom, and discussed the sequel with the Mirror last week. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the 25-year-old actor did say the story follows the son of Davy Jones (Bill Nighy).

Kon-Tiki directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg will helm the new installment, with Jerry Bruckheimer as producer. Javier Bardem was rumored for a role in October, and would play a villain seeking revenge on Jack Sparrow (Depp).

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is scheduled for release July 7, 2017. The first three installments, Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest and At World's End grossed a combined $2.7 billion, and the fourth, On Stranger Tides, earned more than $1 billion alone.

Scodelario came to fame as Effy Stonem on E4 series Skins, and subsequently starred as Teresa in The Maze Runner. The actress will reprise the role in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and is also scheduled for Tiger House and The Moon and the Sun.
