SAN DIEGO, July 26 (UPI) -- Chris Pratt is opening up about his much-discussed sex scene with Jennifer Lawrence.

The 37-year-old actor said he did his best to make the 25-year-old actress comfortable when they filmed Lawrence's first-ever sex scene for their upcoming movie, Passengers.

"We're actors and it's a part of the job," Pratt told E! News while promoting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at San Diego Comic-Con.

"Your job as a leading man is to make the actress feel comfortable and you do that by minimizing the amount of people that are there and just, you know, having a sense of whether or not they're feeling okay," he added.

Passengers follows a mechanic and writer (Pratt and Lawrence) who awaken from hibernation 90 years early on a spaceship. Lawrence previously told The Hollywood Reporter she was "the most vulnerable" she'd ever been while filming the scene.

"I had my first real sex scene a couple weeks ago and it was really bizarre," she shared. "It was weird. And everything was done right; nobody did anything wrong. It's just a bizarre experience."

"I got really, really drunk. But then that led to more anxiety when i got home because I was like, 'What have I don't? I don't know.' And he was married," the star said of Pratt's wife, Anna Faris. "I knew it was my job, but I couldn't tell my stomach that."

Passengers is directed by The Imitation Game helmer Morten Tyldum and opens in theaters Dec. 21. The sci-fi drama co-stars Michael Sheen and Laurence Fishburne.
