Ryan Beatty comes out as gay on social media: 'Now I can breathe'

LOS ANGELES, June 29 (UPI) -- Singer Ryan Beatty has come out as gay on social media during LGBT Pride Month.

"Proud to be a raging homosexual," the 20-year-old wrote on Instagram Tuesday alongside a photo of a pink ballon with the words "Gay Power."

"It's taken 20 years of suffocating in the closet for me to become comfortable enough to say it, but now I can finally breathe. i did it!," he continued.

In a pair of separate posts hours later on Twitter, Beatty thanked fans and friends for their support. "Damn. I'm so grateful to have friends and family that support me and just want me to be happy. That's unconditional love," he wrote. "Thank you to anyone who's reached out to me with the supportive words. I'm so happy."

Beatty, most known for 2012 his debut album Because of You is set to release his latest single "Passion," on July 1.
