LONDON, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Kensington Palace released Prince Harry's Christmas card for the year Tuesday.

The black and white photo features the Prince, 31, linked with British veteran Tom Neil during his September visit to Battle of Britain commemorations in West Sussex.

"Merry Christmas from Prince Harry," Kensington Palace wrote alongside the snapshot on Instagram. "He has chosen this photograph with Battle of Britain veteran Tom Neil for his Christmas card. Prince Harry considered it a great honour to meet Tom during the Battle of Britain flypast in September. It was one of his most memorable moments of 2015."

The royal spent his 31st birthday on Sept. 15 touring WWII-era aircraft and meeting veterans such as Neil and reportedly gave up his spot on a vintage double-seated Spitfire aircraft to allow the last-surviving RAF ace to take part in the flight.

The photo comes shortly after family members Prince William and Kate Middleton released their family's Christmas photo, shot by photographer Chris Jeff. Featuring Princess Charlotte and Prince George, the portrait was reportedly taken in the garden at Kensington Palace in October.

"I thoroughly enjoyed photographing a very lovely family, although you have to be sharp as you don't have long when there are two young children involved," Jeff said in a statement released by the palace.
