DYLAN McDERMOTT: Police in Waterbury, Conn., confirmed to E! News Monday the 1967 death of actor Dylan McDermott's mother was a homicide, not an accident.

Investigators said Diane McDermott was fatally shot by her then-boyfriend John Sponza, who allegedly had connections to organized crime.

At the time of her death, police categorized the gunshot wound that killed her as self-inflicted.

The Republican-American, which first reported the most recent findings, said police reopened the investigation last year because the actor was not satisfied with the initial conclusion and sought answers they couldn't provide.

E! News reported Waterbury police say they have since gathered enough evidence, including ballistics reports and testimony provided by Dylan McDermott, to prove Sponza was his mother's killer. Sponza was shot to death in 1972.

Dylan McDermott's sister, Robin Herrera, told the Republican-American she is relieved the case is closed.

"I'm happy to know my mother wasn't mentally ill or depressed," she said. "Somebody took her from us; she didn't leave us."

Dylan McDermott is best known for his work on TV's "The Practice" and "American Horror Story."

ANN CURRY: NBC will pay Ann Curry at least $10 million to leave the "Today" show in New York this week, network sources told TMZ.

Curry, who has worked for NBC for 15 years, signed a contract when she took over as co-anchor of "Today" in 2011, guaranteeing her $10 million a year for three years, TMZ said.

The celebrity news Web site said the network plans to pay Curry millions to buy out the rest of her contract.

Fox News said NBC is expected to announce a permanent replacement for her this week.

Curry appeared on Monday's edition of "Today," but did not mention her employment situation.

The New York Times reported last week Curry has been talking to network officials about a different job. The show's falling ratings, her lack of chemistry with co-host Matt Lauer and her suitability for hard news are being cited as reasons for the change.

ROSEANNE: Comedy Central says it plans to tape a roast of American comedian, actress and author Roseanne in Los Angeles this summer.

The program is to be taped Aug. 4 and will air Aug. 12, the cable network said.

"Although Roseanne appears to be a demure, soft-spoken woman eternally committed to the status quo, we believe under the surface is an explosive, trail-blazing cultural revolution. We are honored to roast her," Kent Alterman, the network's head of original programming and production, said in a statement Monday.

"Celebrating Roseanne's unprecedented achievements in comedy and television will surely inspire us to make this roast more reminiscent of the classic roasts, where the intimacy of friends jousting with each other came through."

"All I can say is good luck finding anything about me to make fun of ... I mean, I've never made a mistake or offended anyone in my life," Roseanne said.

Previous Comedy Central roasts have featured Charlie Sheen, Donald Trump, David Hasselhoff, Joan Rivers, Larry the Cable Guy, Bob Saget, Flavor-Flav, Pamela Anderson and William Shatner.

MAURA TIERNEY: Hollywood actress Maura Tierney and British actor Marc Warren have been cast in recurring roles in Season 4 of "The Good Wife," CBS said Monday.

Both new members of the ensemble will appear in the season premiere in September.

"Warren will play Kalinda's manipulative ex-husband, to whom she has an attraction that she finds impossible to ignore. Tierney will play a self-made millionaire who has become the doyenne of Chicago Democratic politics," a synopsis said.

Archie Panjabi plays Kalinda in the legal drama, which also stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winner Julianna Margulies.
