LOS ANGELES, March 3 (UPI) -- U.S. filmmaker Alexander Payne is set to direct "Downsizing," his first movie since his 2004 wine country comedy, "Sideways," Variety.com said.

Payne also co-wrote "Downsizing," which is expected to feature his "Sideways" star Paul Giamatti and "Election" leading lady Reese Witherspoon, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

"Borat" star Sacha Baron Cohen is also up for a role in the new feature about a cash-strapped guy, played by Giamatti, who figures he can have a much nicer life if he undergoes a process to shrink himself.
