LONDON, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Claude Monet's "Dans La Prairie," an oil painting of the artist's wife Camille reading in a field of wildflowers, has sold for $16 million at auction in London.

The BBC said the sale fell short of the artwork's estimated price of $22 million at Christie's sale of Impressionist and Modern art.

Monet's "La Promenade d'Argenteuil," which was expected to go for $7.3 million, didn't find a buyer, the British broadcaster said.
