WASHINGTON, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Film actor Val Kilmer says he is considering running for the office of governor in New Mexico, where he owns a ranch.
The 49-year-old actor -- who is known for his roles in the movies "Real Genius," "Top Gun," "The Doors," "Batman Forever," "Tombstone" and "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" -- told The Hill he might run after current Gov. Bill Richardson is term-limited out of office in 2011.
"Actually, they've asked me to run for governor," he said at Monday's Huffington Post party at the Newseum in Washington. "People seem to want me to. ... I love my state and I love the people."
Without specifying who is urging him to seek office, Kilmer agreed with a journalist's characterization of his plans to run as a "strong maybe."
The Hill noted Richardson has in the past said he would support Kilmer if the actor decided to run for governor.
