SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Police in South Dakota say actor Vinnie Jones faces a simple assault charge after a barroom brawl in which he was cracked in the head with a beer mug.

The Sioux Falls Argus-Leader reported Sunday the "X-Men" star stopped in the Upper Midwest city while on a hunting vacation and wound up as part of a multiparty dispute over the pool table at Wiley's Tavern.

Sioux Falls Police Sgt. Tim Hagen told the Argus-Leader that, according to witnesses, Jones asked a player if he could have a go at the table, but was told he would have to wait.

Another fellow then asked Jones if he was the person who played Juggernaut in "X-Men: The Last Stand."

"He got offended by that, and he started pushing my other friends around," customer Juan Barrera told police. "He said he's been in so many other movies or whatever."

Barrera swears he was in the men's room when things got out of hand and didn't know who threw the first punch, the report said.

Police said Jones, who earned a reputation as a hard-nosed soccer player in Britain before taking up acting, wound up getting hit in the face with a glass.

"He got the worst end of that deal," said Hagen, who said Jones was treated for cuts and charged with simple assault, as was the suspect who allegedly hit him.
