Throat cancer rumors disputed by Ray

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- A representative for Rachel Ray says rumors the U.S. TV cooking show personality may be temporarily silenced by a throat cancer operation are untrue.

Spokesman Charlie Dougiello said while the culinary celebrity is to have surgery on her vocal cord, it will have no impact on the taping of Ray's show, People magazine reported Friday.

"Rachael is the picture of health. She is having very minor surgery to remove a benign cyst on her vocal cord," Dougiello said. "It's a common in-and-out procedure that she will have in early December and it will not adversely effect any of her daytime show or Food Network tapings."

People said The National Enquirer had reported Ray, 40, would lose her voice for two months due to a throat cancer operation.

An unidentified source told the magazine reports of a significant illness were inaccurate.

"She's totally fine. It's just something she needs to take care of. She hasn't been feeling ill," the source said.

LaKisha Jones thrilled to be marrying

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Oct. 4 (UPI) -- "American Idol" singer LaKisha Jones says she is "excited" about her upcoming wedding to financial adviser Larry Davis in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The soul singer from the sixth season of the hit Fox series said both she and her 5-year-old daughter Brionne are eager for Sunday's wedding, People magazine reported Saturday.

"I'm very excited," the 28-year-old singer told People. "My daughter Brionne is the flower girl, and she woke up this morning and said, 'We have (a few) days, Mommy, and then I can put on my dress.'"

Jones said while she failed to win the televised singing contest, the popularity she earned from being on 'Idol' earned her a role in a Broadway production of "The Color Purple" and enabled her to create her first solo album, due out in stores Oct. 21.

"I am glad to be me," Jones told People. "I may not have won 'American Idol,' but I have won because I'm able to provide a better life for me and my daughter and that's all I've ever wanted."

Cohen ejected during 'Bruno' filming

PARIS, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Actor-comedian Sacha Baron Cohen was ejected from a fashion show in Paris where he apparently was filming his new film, "Bruno," onlookers say.

The Daily Telegraph said Saturday that while attempting to film a scene for his new documentary-style comedy, the "Borat" star was escorted from the event by a security guard.

The incident came as Cohen climbed up on a catwalk at designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's fashion show and tried to pass several models a note, the British newspaper reported.

The involvement of show security during the French event marks the second time the comedian has been escorted from a 2008 fashion show.

Cohen was forced out of Milan Fashion Week by security after attempting to walk down the event's main runway, the newspaper said.

The actor has also disrupted two fashion events in Milan in the persona of his fictional fashion reporter, Bruno. The full name for Cohen's upcoming film is "Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Male."

Weezer singer ditches shy personality

ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Those attending a concert in St. Paul, Minn., by the rock bank Weezer would say front man Rivers Cuomo has finally overcome his shyness.

The Minnesota Star Tribune reported Saturday that after years of Weezer performances in which Cuomo displayed a restrained on-stage presence, the 38-year-old singer rocked out during a Friday performance at the Xcel Energy Center.

The newspaper said the performance by Cuomo and his fellow Weezer rockers was filled with energy and motion, including a knee-slide from the typically reserved front man.

The new-found approach by the rockers comes as Cuomo is settling into his new life role as a married father with a degree from Harvard University.

The Star Tribune said while Cuomo's life changes have limited the musical efforts by the "Undone (The Sweater Song)" rockers, they still managed to put on a great St. Paul show and just released their sixth group album, titled "the Red Album" by fans.
