'Osage County' film being planned

NEW YORK, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- A movie adaptation of the celebrated U.S. play, "August: Osage County," reportedly is in the works.

Tracy Letts's stage drama, which premiered at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater last summer before moving to Broadway, has won the Pulitzer Prize and five Tony awards.

Variety.com said the author is adapting for the big screen his play about an Oklahoma family dealing with its patriarch's disappearance.

No budget, casting or shooting schedule has been set for the film, Variety.com said.

"So many actors and stars have come to see it on Broadway, and we've gotten inquiries," producer Jean Doumanian told the entertainment industry trade newspaper. "People are enthusiastic about the film version."
