Alley ends relationship with Jenny Craig

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Actress Kirstie Alley will no longer help advertise the benefits of the Jenny Craig weight-loss program, an official with the U.S. company has confirmed.

Jenny Craig's vice president of marketing, Scott Parker, said the former "Cheers" TV series actress will not appear in more advertising spots for the diet program company, People magazine reported Friday.

"Although Kirstie will not appear in future advertising endeavors for us, she does remain on Jenny Craig's maintenance program and is confident that our program has helped her incorporate positive lifestyle changes that should last a lifetime," Parker said.

Parker also made mention of the new face of the Jenny Craig program, actress Valerie Bertinelli, who first appeared in the company's advertisements last August.

"Now that Kirstie has 'passed her maintenance baton' to Valerie (Bertinelli)," Parker said, "you'll see a new campaign with a new celebrity client emerge, in 2008 … one that promotes health with Queen Latifah."
