Winfrey tops Forbes 2007 powerful list

NEW YORK, June 15 (UPI) -- TV talk show maven Oprah Winfrey is No. 1 on Forbes magazine's annual list of the top 100 most powerful celebrities.

Winfrey, who makes $260 million a year, is in good company with golfer Tiger Woods at No. 2, Madonna at No. 3 and veteran British rockers the Rolling Stones at No. 4.

Brad Pitt makes his debut on the list at No. 5, followed by Johnny Depp at No. 6, Elton John at No. 7 and last year's No. 1, Tom Cruise, on the 2007 list at No. 8.

Missing from the list are George Lucas, Bruce Springsteen, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and mini-moguls, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

The twins spent four consecutive years on the list starting in 2002.

"They no longer have the tween fashion cachet," Forbes' associate editor Lea Goldman told USA Today about the Olsen twins. "The stock is down on their brand."

Forbes comes up with its tally using a combination of income, media interest and the number of friends the celebrities have on their MySpace Internet pages.

"We're seeing young kids bringing in adult salaries," Goldman says.
