New NASA podcast gaining exposure

WASHINGTON, May 3 (UPI) -- NASA has joined the ranks of video podcaster's with, NASA EDGE, a funny but informative look at their aerospace program, straight from Washington.

The podcast will reportedly cover everything from the latest launches, gadgets and developments in science and technology, in a quirky yet informative news brief likened to Comedy Central's "Daily Show with Jon Stewart," just without the celebrity, NASA reported Thursday.

The podcast is also unscripted and the hosts, Chris Giersh and Blair Allen, as well as news anchor Franklin Fitzgerald, reportedly give their own unpredictable perspective on the latest NASA news.

"NASA EDGE is a different and fun way to learn about the inside and outside of NASA," said Giersch.

Before taking the role of the NASA EDGE host, Giersch was a program manager for NASA CONNECT, the Emmy-winning math, science and technology program for students.

NASA EDGE has episodes that cover the space and technology used in the Winter X-Games, a space food cook-off, a new game called "Innovation or Fabrication," the Space Exploration Conference and the 21st Century Explorer Podcast Competition.
