NEW YORK, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- New York actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, 27, stars in two movies currently in the theaters, but she is focusing on her most immediate project -- motherhood.

Gyllenhaal is appearing in "World Trade Center" and a romantic comedy "Trust the Man," as well as the soon-to-be-released "Sherrybaby," in theaters Sept. 8, but she says she might take some time off, People magazine reported.

"I have no way of knowing what it's going to feel like to be a mother," Gyllenhaal said. "I'm trying not to anticipate too much what I'm going to do. You know, I'm going to see."

She told People she didn't want to talk too much about the baby because "...that's my first job as a mother -- to protect just the baby from that."

The actress did say Los Angeles would not be the place she would choose to raise her child.

She said she and fiance Peter Sarsgaard are not in any rush to get married.
