Charlton Heston in good health

LOS ANGELES, April 14 (UPI) -- The son of the "The Ten Commandments" star Charlton Heston says his Alzheimer's stricken father is "doing as well as expected."

"It's an insidious disease," Fraser Heston told "Entertainment Tonight."

Heston, 81, announced his Alzheimer's diagnosis in August 2002.

Fraser said his father was in good health and good spirits.

His parents recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary and his mother, Lydia, is "doing really well," he said. "Very brave. She will endure."

It's a Heston family affair when ABC airs Cecil B. DeMille's 1956 "The Ten Commandments" Saturday night.

Fraser Heston was less than a year old when he portrayed baby Moses in the film.

He said DeMille sent his parents a telegram after he was born saying: "Congratulations. He's got the part."
