Bochco takes over 'Commander in Chief'

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Veteran producer Steven Bochco has taken over the helm of ABC TV's drama "Commander in Chief," it was reported Friday.

The addition of Bochco -- creator of "NYPD Blue" and a string of other TV hits -- means "Commander in Chief" creator-executive producer Rod Lurie will move out of the writers' room and onto developing new shows for Touchstone, the Hollywood Reporter said.

The behind-the-scenes change comes only weeks after the debut of the show starring Geena Davis as the first woman U.S. president.
