'Scrubs' Turk is 'Homie Spumoni'

LOS ANGELES, June 10 (UPI) -- Donald Faison, best known as Turk on NBC's "Scrubs," is headed back to the big screen with Whoopi Goldberg in the independent comedy "Homie Spumoni."

Also on board are Jamie-Lynn DiScala of HBO's "The Sopranos" and singer/actor Joey Fatone of *N Sync and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

The story revolves around Faison's character, an African-American raised as Italian-American. When his real parents return into his life, he turns his back on his Italian upbringing.

Mike Cerrone is directing the script he co-penned with Glenn Ciano and Steve Cerrone.

Faison's last film role was in "King's Ransom." His future projects include "Venus and Vegas," "Vegas Baby" and "42.4 Percent," the Reporter said.
