Actresses donate 'Pants' memorabilia

NEW YORK, May 25 (UPI) -- Amber Tamblyn and America Ferrera Wednesday gave New York's Planet Hollywood restaurant costumes they wore in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants."

Tamblyn is best-known for playing the title character in the recently canceled CBS drama, "Joan of Arcadia." Ferrera received rave reviews for her performance in the indie favorite, "Real Women Have Curves."

Also on hand at the event was newcomer Blake Lively.

Scheduled to open in theaters June 1, the film is based on Ann Brashares' best-selling novel of the same name. Also starring "Gilmore Girls" actress, Alexis Bledel, the movie and book are about four life-long friends who deal with being apart for the first time by sharing a pair of thrift-store jeans that fit all of them perfectly.

Each woman wears the pants for a week to see what luck they bring her before sending them on to the next. Although miles apart, the four friends still experience life, love and loss together in a summer they'll never forget.

The actresses' costumes will be on display at Planet Hollywood.

The donation of the clothes coincides with the restaurant's Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Jeans Drive taking place there this month.

Clean, used pants can be dropped off at the restaurant to be donated to New York City's SafeHorizon charity.
