'When a Stranger Calls' headed for remake

LOS ANGELES, April 13 (UPI) -- Simon West is in talks to direct a remake of the cult horror classic "When a Stranger Calls" for Sony's Screen Gems, Daily Variety said Wednesday.

Carol Kane starred in the original 1979 Columbia Pictures take on the story, as a babysitter who keeps getting phone calls from a guy who asks: "Have you checked the children lately?" When she finally contacts the police, they tell her the calls are coming from inside the house.
