LOS ANGELES, March 14 (UPI) -- Aaron Eckhart has joined the cast of director Brian De Palma's "The Black Dahlia," The Hollywood Reporter said Monday.
Millennium Films and Signature Pictures are producing the movie version of James Ellroy's novel about two Los Angeles police officers investigating the sensational real-life murder of Hollywood starlet Elizabeth Short. Eckhart will play one of the officers, with Josh Hartnett as the other one.

Hilary Swank and Scarlett Johansson are also in the cast.
Eckhart -- who recently completed filming on "Thank You for Smoking," "Conversations with Other Women" and "Neverwas" -- is best known as Julia Roberts' co-star in "Erin Brockovich."
