Casting directors threaten strike

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Hollywood casting directors are threatening to strike if producers do not allow them to unionize, The Hollywood Reporter said Thursday.

Casting directors supply producers with actors for movies and TV shows. They want to organize as part of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

The paper said a strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers would have an immediate impact on casting for upcoming TV pilots -- and would also disrupt feature film and TV production if truck drivers, location managers and other members of Teamsters Local 399 in Los Angeles and Local 817 in New York refuse to cross picket lines.
