Adrien Brody to announce Oscar nominees

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody will announce this year's Oscar nominees, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Tuesday.

Brody -- won won for Best Actor in 2002 for "The Pianist" -- will join academy president Frank Pierson in announcing the nominations at academy headquarters in Beverly Hills Jan. 25.

Brody won the Oscar on his first nomination, and was the youngest actor ever to win for Best Actor. He recently starred in "The Village," and is due on U.S. theater screens later this year in "The Jacket."

Brody is also starring in writer-director Peter Jackson's upcoming remake of "King Kong," which also features Naomi Watts and Jack Black.

The academy will present the Oscars Feb. 27 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, in ceremonies to be televised live on ABC.
