Holly Deveaux to play Casey Anthony
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- The upcoming U.S. Comedy Arts Festival will pay tribute to the 1996 comedy "Waiting for Guffman," Daily Variety said Wednesday.
The paper said the first round of events announced by festival organizers and HBO will focus on satire.
In addition to a tribute to the film's cast members -- including Fred Willard, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Parker Posey, Bob Balaban and director Christopher Guest -- the 11th U.S. Comedy Arts Festival will also feature a Harvard Lampoon alumni reunion. The event will include the Lampoon's first woman president -- and Columbia Pictures executive -- Lisa Henson, as well TV comedy veterans Andy Borowitz and John Bowman ("Fresh Prince of Bel-Air").
"Doonesbury" creator Garry Trudeau will receive the festival's Freedom of Speech Award -- given to recognize artists who use their craft to talk about serious social issues.
Jim Carrey will receive the AFI Star Award for his body of work.
The U.S. Comedy Arts festival will be held Feb. 9-13 in Aspen, Colo.
