Thompson and her "Sense and Sensibility" co-star, Greg Wise, had a child, Gaia Romilly, and Thompson had announced she was giving up Hollywood for motherhood.

But her hiatus was short-lived: she played a professor battling ovarian cancer in HBO's "Wit," received accolades for her role in "Angels in America," and the latest Harry Potter movie has landed her again on the red carpet -- something the 45-year-old actress admits may be harder and harder to do.

"It will take longer and longer to fight a bad photo until one day, when I resign myself to defeat, I will go out wearing a tea cozy," she said.
