Ewan McGregor treated for insect bite

TURKESTAN, Kazakhstan, May 19 (UPI) -- Actor Ewan McGregor, on a three-month worldwide trek, was treated for an insect bite in Kazakhstan that caused his head to swell, it was reported Wednesday.

Medics in Turkestan, Kazakhstan, who examined McGregor Monday, said the bite was harmless, World Entertainment News Network said, though trip organizers feared the "Star Wars" actor had been bitten by one of eastern Europe's dangerous blood-sucking parasites while sleeping in a tent.

McGregor had been told to get medical help earlier in the trip but the 33-year-old Scottish actor traveled to the next stop before seeing a doctor.

McGregor and his friend, Charley Boorman, are touring Europe, Mongolia, Siberia and North America via motorbike.
