Spacek to appear in 'Ring 2'

LOS ANGELES, April 19 (UPI) -- Nearly 30 years after starring in "Carrie," Sissy Spacek is set to return to the horror film genre in "The Ring 2," The Hollywood Reporter said Monday.

Starring Naomi Watts and Simon Baker, the sequel to the 2002 hit is expected to start shooting in mid-May, the trade paper said.

Since the script and plot are so closely guarded, it is unclear who Spacek will play in the continuing tale of a videotape that mysteriously kills those who view it.

Sources close to the film told The Hollywood Reporter the filmmakers want to keep a level of mystery around Spacek's role.
