Ward to star in TV's 'Suburban Madness'

LOS ANGELES, March 31 (UPI) -- Sela Ward has signed on to star in "Suburban Madness," a CBS movie about a Texas dentist who killed her cheating husband with her Mercedes Benz.

Ward will play Bobbi Bacha, the veteran private investigator who provided the most damning evidence in the real-life 2003 trial of Clara Harris, a Houston mother of twins who deliberately ran her husband over with her car, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.

Harris initially hired Bacha to watch her husband, David, whom she suspected was conducting extramarital affairs.

Bacha winds up capturing the July 2002 slaying on tape when Harris confronts her orthodontist-husband in a hotel parking lot.

Clara Harris was convicted last year of first-degree murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The court gave her a lighter sentence than the maximum after finding she acted with "sudden passion" when she decided to hit the gas pedal.

"Suburban Madness" will recall the story from Bacha's perspective, the trade paper noted.
