LOS ANGELES, March 29 (UPI) -- "The Sopranos'" Drea De Matteo has been cast as Joey Tribbiani's sister in the upcoming NBC "Friends" spinoff, "Joey."

De Matteo, who plays Christopher's fiancee, Adriana, who was recruited by the FBI on "The Sopranos," has been selected for the comedy role after a lengthy search, Monday's Hollywood Reporter said.

The new sitcom will star Matt LeBlanc as his long-running "Friends" character, Joey, who moves to Los Angeles to be near his sister, Gina. De Matteo will play the outspoken Gina, a hairdresser who lives with her son.

De Matteo's "Joey" role will not interfere with her contractual obligation on "The Sopranos," which is filming its sixth and final season.
