Lockheed Martin, partners establish UAE-based technology center

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin has teamed up with Sweden-based Exechon AB and Abu-Dhabi based Injaz National to form a joint-venture company in the United Arab Emirates.

The new company, which will establish an engineering and manufacturing center for aerospace, automotive, defense and other industrial sectors will focus on improving machining technology. Joe Garland, vice president of Strategy and Business Development at Lockheed Martin, says UAE is a good fit for the joint venture.

Exechon Enterprises LLC will also create an Application and Technology Development Center aiming to establish the UAE as a leading supplier of parallel kinematics machining.

"This joint venture demonstrates Lockheed Martin's commitment to supporting the UAE's vision of a robust, high-tech industrial base that exports world-class products developed through long-term partnerships with local industry," Garland said in a statement.

Injaz National managing director adds the transaction and cooperation between the multi-national team of contractors demonstrates the UAE can respond to increased needs for further innovation in automation, robotics and other industrial areas.
