OTTAWA, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Oshkosh Canada has announced it is offering a next-generation logistics vehicle for the country's Medium Support Vehicle System project.
The vehicle is based on its parent company's Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck platform, a purpose-built military vehicle that has been chosen by the U.S. Department of Defense and more than 20 allies worldwide.
Key vehicle sub-systems include a high-performance drive train, advanced suspension and braking systems, and a state-of-the-art armor protection system.
"The Oshkosh ... family of vehicles is the next generation of the world's most trusted, battle-proven military platform in the field today," said John Urias, Oshkosh Corp. executive vice president and president of Oshkosh Defense. "We are proud to present the government of Canada with our bid that meets or exceeds all project requirements, and most importantly, provides Canadian soldiers with the modern logistics vehicles they need to perform their missions."
Oshkosh said in working with Canadian companies such as DEW Engineering and Development, General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada, and Link Suspensions of Canada-Raydan Division, on the project, it would return 100 percent or more of the contract value to the Canadian economy.
