AAR airlift services for U.S. Africa Command

WOOD DALE, Ill., Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Fixed-wing airlift services for the U.S. military's Africa Command is to be provided by Illinois-based AAR Airlift Group Inc.

AAR said the service is being provided under an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from the U.S. Transportation Command and that services will specifically be for four countries in U.S. Africa Command's area of responsibility -- Uganda, Central Africa Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and South Sudan.

The contract is worth about $23 million and features a seven-month period of performance, plus five three-month option periods.

"AAR is pleased to expand our airlift services footprint in Africa," said Randy J. Martinez, president and chief executive officer of the AAR Airlift Group. "USTRANSCOM's issuance of this contract to AAR acknowledges our proven performance in remote and austere environments."

The contract covers passenger and cargo transport services, aerial delivery services, and logistics support for allied forces.

AAR, with a fleet of more than 40 fixed-wing and rotary aircraft, provides expeditionary airlift services in support of contingency operations around the world.
