ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Longbow LLC has received a $92.8 million U.S. Army contract for lifecycle logistics and technical support for its systems on Apache attack helicopters.
The contract, which extends current lifecycle services provided for AH-64D and AH-64E helicopters to 2016 provides for integrated logistics for Longbow fire control radar, an upgraded fire control radar electronics unit and tactical common data link to unmanned aerial systems.
The Longbow unmanned aerial system tactical common data link assembly, or UTA, is a two-way, high-bandwidth datalink that enables AH-64E Apache aircrews to receive and transmit data and control the flight paths, sensors and lasers of unmanned aircraft systems from long ranges.
"This is the first contract to provide integrated logistics support for multiple configurations of Longbow hardware on the AH-64D and E-model Apaches," said Tom Eldredge, Longbow LLC president and director of Longbow programs at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. "Providing affordable depot repair for the Longbow fire control radar and UTA systems ensures supply availability and enables our customer to focus on their mission."
Longbow is a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman.
