SRA continues IT support for Military Sealift Command

FAIRFAX, Va., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Mission-critical support for the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command will continue to be provided by SRA International Inc. under a new IT contract.

Under the contract, the information technology company will provide the command's Command, Control, Communications and Computer Systems Directorate (N6). The service areas include program management, infrastructure development and network.

It will also provide for command, control, communications and computer systems training.

"The SRA team is proud to support the U.S. Navy and the Military Sealift Command through the delivery of critical IT services," said Defense Group Senior Vice President George Batsakis. "Under this award, we continue our valuable partnership with MSC enabling operational communications for its high-priority missions in the U.S. and around the globe."

Military Sealift Command missions include the provision of strategic sealift for the Department of Defense, direct fleet support to the Navy combatant fleet, and conducting special missions involving the operation of ships.

The contract awarded SRA is for three years. It carries a value of $56 million if all options are exercised.
