Boeing enters technology transfer deal

RECIFE, Brazil, March 28 (UPI) -- U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing and the Brazilian state of Pernambuco have signed a deal leading to skills training and technology transfer.

The Memorandum of Understanding is part of Boeing's bid to win the country's FX-2 competition for advanced fighter aircraft for which Boeing is offering its F-18 Super Hornet.

"This program supports Pernambuco's economic development strategy by expanding education and opportunities for the long-term growth of our people and our economy," Campos said. "We look forward to a productive collaboration with Boeing in this important endeavor."

Added Boeing Brazil President Donna Hrinak: "Boeing has an unmatched reputation for forging new relationships to address local demands and delivering world-class industrial partnership programs. This partnership with the state of Pernambuco is a good example of how we can bring the technology and expertise of aerospace to other industries."

Boeing said TWI Ltd., a British engineering firm, will work with Boeing and local technical schools and universities to share the latest advances in materials-joining technology and techniques and to develop training programs.
