Iraq to receive helo logistics support

FORT WORTH, Texas, April 17 (UPI) -- Bell Helicopter reports it will provide logistics support for aircraft purchased by Iraq through a U.S. Foreign Military Sale contract.

Under the new contract from the U.S. Army Contracting Command, support will be provided for Bell Helicopter 407 armed scout aircraft -- 24 purchased by Iraq and six purchased by the U.S. Army and given to Iraq.

"Bell Helicopter is pleased to be able to support the U.S. Army and our 407's in Iraq," said Don Brosious, vice president for Bell Helicopter. "Bell Helicopter has industry leading support and service and we are fully committed to giving the Army that same advantage in Iraq."

Bell said that it will support aircraft used to train qualified Iraqi army pilots to "operate and maintain the helicopters, as well as rapidly accelerate" their fielding and use.

Services will be performed Al Taji Air Base in Iran and several U.S. locations.
