MCLEAN, Va., March 8 (UPI) -- U.S. Marine Corps efforts to replace its legacy supply and maintenance information technology systems are receiving support from QinetiQ North America.
The Virginia company said that under a new task order by the Marine Corps Systems Command it will provide acquisition, technical, logistics, engineering and administrative support to the Global Combat Support System -- Marine Corps/Logistics Chain Management Increment 1 program.
The GCSS-MC is the technology enabler for the Marine's plan to modernize logistics and features a commercial off-the-shelf planning system that will allow a deployed unit to perform supply and related maintenance actions.
"With this task order, MARCORSYSCOM has given us an opportunity to greatly increase coordination and efficiency across GCSS-MC support efforts," said John Radziszewski, executive vice president and general manager, QinetiQ North America.
"This will save the government money and help achieve the program manager's objective of developing an integrated GCSS-MC baseline."
QinetiQ North America said its acquisition, technical, logistics, engineering and administrative services will support the GCSS-MC/LCM Program Office, which is fielding the enterprise.
The task order -- under a Commercial Enterprise Omnibus Support Service contract -- features an 11-month base performance period and two one-year options. Its value is $20 million if all options are exercised.
