MicroTech supports public affairs shop

VIENNA, Va., June 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department's public affairs operation is to receive information technology support from Virginia technology systems integrator MicroTech.

Under the contract, MicroTech will leverage proven and certified business processes and solutions to provide information resource management IT operations support, application development, IT security services, integration services and configuration management.

The company said the prime vendor contract to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs is worth more than $20 million.

The assistant secretary of defense for public affairs provides internal information, public information, community relations, information training and audiovisual materials.

"The OASD-PA contract award allows MicroTech to play a vital role in keeping the important communications flow at the Defense Department up and running," said MicroTech President and Chief Executive Officer Tony Jimenez.

"MicroTech has a well-established record of successfully supporting the U.S. military. Our staff of highly trained technical professionals -- many of them military veterans -- thoroughly understands the technology requirements of today's military."

The contract to MicroTech was awarded under the GSA IT Schedule 70 IDIQ Multiple Award Schedule contract.

The company said it will provide onsite employees at the Pentagon to support the OASD (PA) contract and that it is teaming with R&K Enterprise Solutions Inc. for the work.
