Firms join for Air Force contract

COLORADO SPRINGS, April 13 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin, URS Corp. and InDyne have teamed to pursue a support contract for the U.S. Air Force's launch and test ranges.

"This alliance, to be known as CoRE, or Consolidated Range Enterprise, unites three companies with a common vision for delivering range management services," said Bob Kramer, vice president of Operational Systems & Services for Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions-Defense. "Our partnership includes three proven contractors with extensive experience in range management and successful large scale integration."

The Launch & Test Range System Integrated Support Contract is scheduled to be awarded in 2012. It will provide the U.S. Air Force with a single prime contractor responsible and accountable for complete and integrated launch and test range systems operations, organizational level maintenance, depot level maintenance, logistics management, sustaining engineering and modifications.

The contract also provides for integration management and test, downrange base operating support, and mission support communications services at both eastern and western Air Force ranges.
