SAIC awarded U.S. Navy contract

MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Science Applications International Corp. has received an $18 million contract to support the U.S. Navy's Surface Warfare Center.

The SAIC contract is to provide the Naval Surface Warfare Center -- Dahlgren Division, in Virginia, with systems engineering and analysis support for combat systems, the company reported Thursday.

SAIC Senior Vice President Tom Baybrook said, "We look forward to expanding our relationship with this important customer by providing quality engineering services and technical expertise in critical warfare areas that affect combat systems across the surface Navy enterprise."

The Naval Surface Warfare Center -- Dahlgren Division conducts research, testing and evaluation in the fields of military safety testing, integrated warfare systems, weapons and ammunition, sensors and directed energy security in an effort to develop systems, technologies, concepts and tactics that enhance U.S. military capabilities.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center - Dahlgren Division efforts that SAIC will be assisting are the Littoral Combat System, the Ship Self Defense System, the Common Air Command and Control System, the battle management command, control, communications, computers and intelligence along with data link and interoperability services.
