Raytheon, Boeing team have JAGM success

TUCSON, May 6 (UPI) -- U.S. defense contractors Raytheon and Boeing reached a milestone for the company's joint missile program following the completion of wind tunnel testing.

Raytheon and Boeing are partners on the Joint Air-to-Ground Missile precision missile project that combines a body and warhead from Boeing and a tri-mode seeker technology from Raytheon.

The combined technology from Raytheon and Boeing was part of an effort to develop a cost-effective missile solution with next-generation capabilities.

The JAGM, designed to engage fixed and moving enemy targets, has successfully completed wind tunnel testing. The Raytheon and Boeing team says the milestone achievement demonstrates the technology can be integrated with the outboard wing station on the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet.

"The warfighter can place a full Raytheon-Boeing JAGM missile load on the outer wing stations, enabling the system to safely exceed the objective load-out requirement on the Super Hornet," Bob Francois, Raytheon Advanced Missiles and Unmanned Systems vice president said in a statement.
