Army testing LM video intelligence system

SUFFOLK, Va., March 16 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin says its next-generation video intelligence technology was delivered to the U.S. military for testing and evaluation.

A Lockheed Martin-led team, which includes Harris Corp. and NetApp, is under contract to develop a full-motion video intelligence solution. Lockheed Martin announced the delivery of the first Valiant Angel system to the U.S. Joint Forces Command.

The Valiant Angel technology, part of an effort to address the large amounts of battlefield video data, is undergoing testing by the Command's Joint Intelligence Laboratory to evaluate the development of the technology ahead of its use in Afghanistan.

"With so many sensors out there generating so much video, it can be overwhelming for the user to manage," Dan Rice, Lockheed Martin Spatial Solutions vice president, said in a statement.

"Joint Forces Command recognized early on that this challenge was in need of an innovative new solution -- and one that could get into the hands of warfighters immediately. We're proud to be working with Joint Forces Command to rapidly turn Valiant Angel from contract award into an operational system."
