PASCAGOULA, Miss., Feb. 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has contracted Northrop Grumman to provide engineering and maintenance support for the fleet of USS San Antonio (LPD 17) vessels.
U.S. company Northrop Grumman says its shipbuilding unit was selected by the Navy to support the USS San Antonio class of amphibious transport dock ships as part of an effort to ensure the fleet remains operationally ready.
Under the $41.3 million follow-on deal, Northrop Grumman will provide engineering, fleet modernization program planning and maintenance support among other life-cycle requirements.
"The efforts associated with this expanded-services contract will provide the Navy a broad range of post-delivery support for these exceptional amphibious ships," Tim Farrell, Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding LPD 17 program vice president, said in a statement.
