LM launches geo-intel Web portal

HERNDON, Va., Oct. 22 (UPI) -- U.S. company Lockheed Martin announced the launch of its new Web portal to provide users access to a geospatial images library to support mission planning.

Lockheed Martin says the new Intelligence on Demand Web portal, launched with support from partner Pictometry International Corp., includes more than 100 million geospatial images for register users.

The Intelligence on Demand site was developed using Lockheed Martin's analytical tools and images from Pictometry as part of an effort to address the growing demand for geospatial intelligence for operational planning.

"More and more U.S. federal government agencies are relying on geospatial intelligence to plan and conduct their operations," Roger Mann, Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Services-Intelligence director of advanced programs, said in a statement.

"But for many organizations within these agencies, it's not practical to purchase, install and manage a multimillion-dollar server infrastructure to store and archive terabytes of high-resolution imagery. With Intelligence on Demand, we're offering users all the convenience and security of their own geospatial database, with none of the traditional costs and effort."
