CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 27 (UPI) -- General Dynamics has been contracted by the U.S. Army to produce and deliver its belt-fed M2 flex machine guns to support military operations.
U.S. company General Dynamics says its Armament and Technical Products business was awarded the production contract from the Rock Island, Ill.-based Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command.
Under the approximately $100 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract, General Dynamics will produce its M2 flex machine guns at its Maine facility with program management conducted by the company's Vermont-based Technology Center.
"The M2 flex is a belt-fed, recoil-operated, air-cooled, crew-served weapon capable of right- or left-hand feed," Dean Gagnon, General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products gun systems senior program manager, said in a statement.
"The weapon's accuracy, durability and versatility make it ideal for offensive and defensive operations."
