Japan selects Sikorsky S-92s

STRATFORD, Conn., July 23 (UPI) -- The Japanese national police agency has selected Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. to deliver its S-92 helicopter to support special mission operations.

U.S. company Sikorsky announced its widely deployed S-92 twin-engine medium-lift helicopter has been selected by Japanese police authorities to conduct search-and-rescue operations among other requirements.

According to a news release the Japanese national police agency, which has used Sikorsky helicopters since 1996, additionally plans to deploy the helicopters for a variety of "special requirements."

"Sikorsky is proud to continue our long association with the national police agency and to provide them with a world-class, multi-mission solution," Carey Bond, Sikorsky vice president and chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
