LGS completes Army network project

VIENNA, Va., July 22 (UPI) -- LGS announced it has completed a project to connect U.S. Army forces in Europe to worldwide command and control systems.

U.S. company LGS has completed the European Dense Wave Division Multiplexed-Optical Transport Network for the Army. The more than three-year, $35 million project was managed by the Army's Product Manager Defense Communications Systems Europe.

According to a news release, the successful completion will support Army installations throughout Germany, Italy and Belgium and "link the forward-deployed soldiers to worldwide Command and Control and information systems."

"This project demonstrates our ability to deliver full-scale communications solutions that include both products and multi-vendor network integration services that meet our customers' needs," Ron Iverson, LGS chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"We work in lock step with our customers throughout every phase of the project to ensure the network not only meets, but exceeds their expectations."
